This project used Maya and is the only model here using normal maps which I did mostly through subdivision along with some overlays in Photoshop.
If I could do it over, I probably would have attempted Z-Brush.

She was designed for one of the CGChat challenges. The basic parameters were "hot girl with big weapon".
Nick Nerandzic, an illustrator friend of mine, went the traditional video game route in his concepts. Girl wearing bikini when it's really not combat appropriate.
That was one of the draws for this project, because I typically don't go that route in my own work.

Most of my design input came on making her mobile because I really wanted to animate her.
The weapon itself started as just a staff. The middle spin ring came out of my ideas for being able to spin a weapon that size with one hand.
I also wanted something different that I couldn't copy animation ideas from.
